Trust me, I went raw DURING the winter and it was brutal!

Over the past 5 winters that I’ve been raw, I’ve discovered one weird tip that has helped me endure (and even kind of enjoy) the cold winter weather.

Hopefully it will help you, too! :)

[..YouTube..] @heidiheidi0 Yes, I eat all raw foods, focusing on fresh fruit and lots of leafy greens. I first went raw back in 2007 and have been 100% since March 2010.

[..YouTube..] You’re right Swayze, Getting outside for fresh air and sunshine (even if we can’t make vitamin D at this latitude) is good advice. Here in Canada it has been -25 Celsius and with the wind chill more like -38 Celsius. Because I hate winter, I tend to hibernate and avoid going outside, but when I do, I wear 5 layers on top (under my coat) and 3 layers of pants, under my snow pants. Shoveling snow is good exercise and warming. I can’t wait to move to a tropical climate, at least for half the year!

[..YouTube..] @ShineLoveLightShine You’re welcome! 67 degrees definitely isn’t cold, especially with the sun out. It was 34 degrees today, but the sun was out. 30 minutes into my walk, it was too hot for my coat, gloves, and earmuffs!

That is a great tip, Swayze. I am someone who has gone through a few winters as a raw foodist in Montreal and I can attest to this 100%. Getting out and moving around is great!

I love winter. Unfortunately, here, in Paris, this year, it is not a real winter, too warm… I love when you feel the first seconds, the cold air on your cheeks, and then experiment how it is energizing, people smiles, says hello, are more active, more optimistic, as if they are awakened by the freshness ! You feel so fine that you wouldn’t return home ! Just like you, I goes out every day, whatever is the weather, to feel the air, rainy, cloudy, fresh, cold, windy, etc and to have the sunlight on my face. Every life on this earth is due to the sun and we are part of this life. Thanks, Swayze, for your blog that is honest and straight.

Yes very good tip. I live in new jersey, it gets petty cold, but I go out everday and rolleblade for a hour. This definitely makes it easier to handle the cold , I just dress in layers. And after being raw for several years I noticed the cold is not as bad as i was in the begining

I go for my 30 minute walk almost every day, definitely when the sun is out. Weather has been very cold here in NH. One day last week it was only 10 degrees out but still went for my walk, it felt great, like you said, just need to bundle up :)

Good for you, Cecile!

Here’s how I learned to deal with cold and dreary winter weather: I chose to move to San Diego.

That’s definitely one solution! :)

[..YouTube..] Cute.I always really felt the cold before LFRV too. I have friends on standard meat diets who are similar. I believe a LFRV diet can help with more resilience to the cold once past detox. Also, it’s freezing here in the UK, but I’m coping pretty much as well as everyone else I think :-)
