If It Looks, Smells, and Tastes Like Pizza…

…then, it’s going to digest like pizza.

This is one of the many sayings from Dr. Douglas Graham, author of The 80/10/10 Diet, that I just love because it is so true!

We all want to go raw without having to give up our favorite cooked food dishes. And according to the raw food gurus, we don’t have to!

We can easily make “mock” raw recipes out of any cooked food favorite, including spaghetti, tacos, meatloaf, stuffing, hamburgers, and yes, even pizza.

The problem here is that in order to make these recipes taste anything like the originals, certain compromises must be made.

First, they must have the right texture. This means copious amounts of fat in the form of avocados, nuts, seeds, and oils must be used.

Second, they must be brimming with flavor. This means copious amounts of flavor-enhancers, particularly salt, must be used.

What’s the problem? The problem is that too much fat and excess salt is HORRIBLE for your health, raw or not.

A good rule of thumb to follow is that anytime you see a recipe for raw tacos, or raw burritos, or raw pizza, STAY AWAY!!!

If you want to get healthy, it isn’t about making raw dishes out of all your old cooked food favorites. Sure, these recipes may taste spectacular, but they sure won’t be healthy.

But acquiring health and vitality doesn’t mean you have to go to the other end of the spectrum and mono-meal every single thing you eat either.

You CAN have your cake (or pizza) and eat it too. You CAN make tasty AND healthy raw recipes, just like all the recipes offered in my raw recipe e-book:

And I can’t forget about Ellen Livingston’s RADICALLY RAW PIZZA! That’s right, a raw pizza recipe. But this one definitely isn’t like most pizza recipes…

1. It doesn’t look like pizza. If you were to see it without knowing the name, you wouldn’t think “PIZZA!” You would think “Oooh, how pretty!”

How many pizzas have YOU seen that had you marveling at the visual appeal?

2. It doesn’t smell like pizza. No cheesy, saucy, salty, yeasty smells here! Just freshness.

3. It doesn’t taste like pizza. No siree! It tastes fresh and clean and delicious.

So then why call it pizza? Okay, it kinda does look like a little fresh pizza. Plus, calling it pizza entices you to try it, right?

I mean, who doesn’t like pizza?! ;)
