Does Your Raw Food Diet Make You Come Alive?
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
That’s a quote from American author Howard Thurman and it’s one of my favorites. I try to live my life with a focus on the activities that make me feel alive, surrounded by people with the same positive, self-reliant aspirations.
And I apply the same goal to what I eat. I eat a diet focused on foods that make me feel alive. This means foods that satisfy me and make me feel great, not foods that weigh me down and make me feel like crud.
This is why I eat only raw foods. Specifically, I eat a low fat raw vegan diet with a focus on fresh fruit and tender greens.
Eating such delicious food that we humans have evolved to thrive on allows my body to come alive.
A fruit-filled raw diet allows me to feel energized throughout the day, even after a brutally intense workout session. It allows me to have great digestion all of the time. It allows me to be completely satisfied after each meal and never worry about bingeing or purging ever again.
These are all reasons why I don’t eat the standard mainstream raw food diet that’s full of fat, salt, stimulants, and supplements.
I gave such a diet a fair shake when I first went raw, even though I thought the amount of avocado, nuts, and oils used sounded ridiculous.
I was just so fed up with my cooked vegan diet that was unsatisfying, sapped all my energy and left me mentally foggy that I was willing to give anything a try. So against my better judgement, I gave the mainstream raw food diet a go.
Let me tell you, that little stint almost shunned me off raw foods for good!
The recipes weren’t satisfying in the least, they were complicated and took forever to prepare, (which boggled my mind…wasn’t UNcooking supposed to be EASY and take LESS time?!) and I just didn’t feel good at all.
But wasn’t THIS the diet that was supposed to make me body come alive?! Apparently not.
Luckily, I soon learned that there was a BIG difference between healthy and unhealthy raw food diets. And it was all thanks to my mentor Frederic Patenaude’s raw food resource The Raw Secrets:

The results were phenomenal and almost instant. Within a few weeks, my energy had sky-rocketed (no more falling asleep at the wheel!), my restless leg syndrome was gone, and I felt truly alive.
And I still eat such a raw food diet to this very day, over 3 years after I first read The Raw Secrets.
