Two Tips for Making Delicious Low Fat Raw Vegan Salads

Here’s another video for you all!  This time I provide a simple low fat raw salad recipe and couple of tips for making your salads spectacularly scrumptious.

Hope ya like it!

And I apologize in advance for the shaky cam and the frame size.  I probably should have re-optimized the whole thing, but it’s late and I need to get to bed!

FYI: The spiralizer I use is called the World Cuisine Tri-Blade Plastic Spiral Vegetable Slicer and you can buy it on Amzon for about $30.

Go raw and be fit,

Swayze

P.S. Let me know if you enjoy the vids.  I’ve gotten good feedback on the 100% raw while traveling one I did last summer and I’m willing to do more if you guys dig ‘em.

Yes, more videos! So fun to see you at work! And your hair is lovely this time…LOL

This dressing sounds delicious…I’ll have to try it. How much of the cherub toms did you add (the whole pkg)?

And can you spiralize bell pepper? (Or, did you mean just add it chopped to the salad?)

I have the same spiralizer from Amazon. I like it better than the vertical ones since you don’t have to cut a cuke or zuke at all. Though some of the vertical ones may be more durable since they aren’t plastic.

Thanks, Swayze!

Thanks for the video. I have been eating small amounts of avocado but just chopped up on top of lettuce with plain lemon juice as a dressing. It makes more sense to blend a large amount of creamy dressing because then I could eat a lot more salad than I do at the minute and get my calorie intake up a bit.

Great video! I wish I had my spiralizer here in Panama.

Tricia~ You’re welcome! It really is tasty and a nice break from all the sweet dressings out there.

Ellen~ Haha, thanks! I made sure to let it DRY and actually style it (which is code for combing through it with my fingers) some BEFORE shooting this time. Yes, I’m just that lazy sometimes. ;)

I just used the 2 tomatoes you saw me chop up in the vid, but if I were to replace them with the cherubs, I would use about 1 package (about 10 ounces). I also like to cut some in half and mix them in with the lettuce and cucumber. Yummy, yummy.

Actually, you can spiralize red bell pepper if it has a really thick base. It takes a bit of work to make it stick on there, but it can be done.

Janet~ Oohh adding lemon or lime juice would be a nice addition as well!

Karmyn~ If wishes and buts were candy and nuts, I’d be livin’ it up in Panama right now… :D

Hey Swayze! :-) Do you have a Sam’s Club nearby? If so, you should check it out because they have 2 lb boxes of Cherubs for under $5…

Just sayin’… (I’m addicted to crack, I mean them, too.)

Really?! How in the world did I miss that!

I just can’t resist a good deal on crack cherubs either. ;)

And have you tried Nature Sweet’s little yellow tomatoes called Sunburst? Really good, too. 32 oz at Sam’s. Too bad I can’t email you some!

I love pistachios, too. Speaking of which, I saw your testimonial featured on Nuts Online. I’ haven’t ordered from them yet but I think they have a good turnover and people say they’re fresh. I guess they must be good if you get them there.

Yes, I love NutsOnline! I’ve ordered raw pistachios as well as sunflower seeds and macadamia nuts from them and everything has been excellent. They’re prices are very competitive as well.

Thank you so much for the lovely compliment. You made my day! :)

I have to admit I noticed your figure in this video. You are not a skinny as me… Did you get skinny at first, and then put on some healthy weight? Any thoughts or comments on that? I’d like to gain a bit of weight

[Reply]

Swayze Reply:

I may be the only one ever, but I did not have the super quick weight loss that most people experience going raw. I lost a lot of water weight during the first couple of weeks, but fat loss has been incredibly slow for me. It’s something I’ve struggled with for years and an issue I think my binging played a part in…I just don’t lose weight easily. I sure can pack it on, though. ;)

If you are looking to put on weight, the best advice I can give is to adopt a weight training program. Start small (think 3-5lbs or even a light tension resistance band) and work yourself up from there. I’ve been into heavy weight training for many years now and it has definitely improved the shape of my frame. :)

Great recipe – can’t wait to try! That is always my concern – what to use for dressing so the salad isn’t so boring…

Swayze Reply:

Great suggestions, Annalise! Here are some more tasty additions:

sun-dried tomatoes
chives
scallions
jicama

You can get lots of possibilities for dressing by combining something from each of the following groups:

(a) lemon or lime
(b) fresh herb
(c) non-sweet fruit
(d) celery leaves
